Life Members Fund Reaches $250,000 A major goal was achieved in early January when SAM’s Life Members Fund reached the $250,000 level.  A combination of investment gains and new life member dues allowed the fund to reach this level.

SAM Wins Three Outdoor Heritage Grants Outdoor Kids Magazine and Website A $20,400 grant from the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund will allow SAM to establish an outdoor kids magazine and website.

Downeast Lakes Project Draws SAM’s Support A huge 342,000-acre conservation project called the Downeast Lakes Forestry Partnership has drawn SAM’s enthusiastic support.

SAM Rates High on State Poll By George Smith. Having tracked Dr. Christian Potholm’s polling results for SAM since 1992, I have seen steady  progress in SAM’s standing with the general public, and exceptional improvements in SAM’s standing with Maine sportsmen.  Recently I provided SAM’s Board with two pages of charted results, covering polls from 1992 to the most recent bear referendum poll taken in June of 2003.  Here are the highlights.

SAM Completes Heritage Projects SAM has completed three important projects funded by grants awarded to the organization by the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund.

Project Launched to Improve Hunters’ Image With the enthusiastic support of SAM’s Board of Directors, the organization has launched a major initiative called:  Continuing the Tradition – Improving the Image of Maine’s Hunters.
