Harold Thomas Carter

A life member of SAM and lifelong outdoorsman, Tom lives and works in Washington County as a registered Maine guide. Residing on the Narraguagus River, he and his wife operate the Narraguagus Guide Service specializing in sea duck hunting and smallmouth bass fishing. Involved in eastern Maine outdoor issues for 10 years – everything from salmon to coyotes – Tom is active in several local sporting groups. Member of the SAM board since 1996, Master IF & W Safety Instructor teaching trapping, hunting, ATV and boat classes regularly. Tom is married to Judy (Farnham) Carter of Bath.

Richard H. Kangas

Dick is a lifelong Maine outdoorsman and Registered Maine Guide. A member of the NRA, North American Hunters Club, Maine Bowhunters Association and SAM Board Member.

John Scales

John is a lifelong outdoorsman and licensed professional forester for over 20 years. Formerly employed by International Paper in Maine. John currently co-owns The Oliver Stores in Lancaster, New Hampshire. John proudly represents the out-of-state members on SAM’s Board of Directors.

Alfred Ockenfels

Al is the Vice President of the SAM Board. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has served with the Rockland Police Department since 1979, rising through the ranks to Chief in 1989. He is a graduate of Daniel Webster College and the University of Maine. He served 1 year on the NRA National Board and is an Election Volunteer Coordinator for the NRA. He also serves on the Maine Chiefs of Police Board of Directors and was recently appointed to the Project Safe Neighborhood Board. Al enjoys hunting, shooting sports and is a licensed commercial pilot. He is a hunter safety instructor and firearms instructor.

Bob Engelhardt

Bob lives in Greene and is a professional gun dog trainer and handler, and a former NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association) hunt test Judge. He has successfully handled dogs in AKC, NSTRA and NAVHDA events. He is a lifelong hunter and fisherman, and spends every spare minute in the field. He is a NRA member, Life Member of NAVHDA, and a member of the Monmouth and Wilton Rod and Gun clubs.
