Horses have sixth sense just like we do.
However, it’s normally a lot more intense than it is in humans. I believe this is because they don’t talk like we do — they aren’t always busy chit-chatting as we are. Therefore, they listen a lot more, pay more attention, and are more aware of their surroundings. They are more attuned to the energy around them and what’s happening around them.
In the wild, that helps them tell if a predator is near or if the weather’s about to change. In our midst, it helps them assess our relationships with and attitudes towards them.
In this post, I’ll be talking about a horse’s intuitiveness and how horses respond to humans’ emotions and energies. This should help you get an idea of how to build better relationships with the equines you work with.
Horses’ Intuitiveness
Horses are very intuitive animals and are much more sensitive than humans. They can sense how you’re feeling and what energies you are giving off.
I’ve known horses that seemed able to read my mind when I was riding them. I could just think to stop or go and they’d do that immediately without me giving any physical cues. Of course, this could have been because our bodies move the slightest bit when we’re thinking hard about something. There’s also the energy that we give off — horses can easily pick up on it.
They Can Sense Anxiousness
Horses have strong intuitions. Thus, when someone is scared of them, they can feel the anxious energy and that tends to make them anxious as well. This is because horses are herd animals. Herd animals always pay attention to nervous energies around them.
Consider what anxiety would signal in a herd in the wild, after all. If they pick up nervous energy surrounding the other horses, it’s likely that there’s a predator around.
They Can Sense Breathing Patterns
A lot of people don’t think about this but another important thing to think about when you’re around horses is your breathing. How many times are we really aware of how we breathe, right? However, I observed in the past that when I was around horses, I was hardly breathing or my breaths were shallow.
